Problem: My second grade students are having difficulty with multi-step word problems and determining what operation to use to solve the problem. Students need to recognize steps used to solve multi-step word problems. In order to help my students have successful learning experiences, students will work in collaborate groups to create a presentation. The presentation will include the steps needed to work word problems, and it will include word problems created by the group. Students will have to present and explain their project to the class.

a. Interactive Lessons using Mimio Board - Pete's Powerpoints on how to solve word problem - Model making a PowerPoint
b. Work in small groups to create a PowerPoint presentation on paper about how to solve word problems that will include word problems created by the group. Students will use technology, text books, and manipulatives to help them gather data. Teacher will approve rough draft before they create the PowerPoint using technology.
c. Work in small groups to create a digital PowerPoint that will include data about how to solve word problems with problems created by the group as examples. Students will be encouraged to draw from real life situations to make the connection.

Small groups will create word problems for other groups to solve.
